Congratulations to this year's SHEA Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Margaret Weber, voted by her fellow SHPS teachers!
"Margaret Weber has been teaching for 31 years, twenty-four of those here in South Haven. She was a special education teacher at the high school for 16 years and then transferred to Lincoln Elementary where she currently teaches Title One Reading. Margaret received her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education in 1985 from Central Michigan University. In 1995 she earned her Master's Degree in Physical Education Exercise Science - Sports Psychology from Michigan State University. She has participated in a variety of activities and committees for SHPS, including: School Improvement, Special Education Supervisor, ELA committees, Literacy Events, Character Education Committee, Freshman-Senior Class Advisor, and many more. Margaret has also been an adjunct faculty member at Lake Michigan College. Through the years Margaret has mentored many teachers and students. In addition, she also coached basketball, volleyball, and softball. Making long lasting connections with her students and players has always been a strong asset of Margaret's. She believes the key to any successful career is developing those relationships and making sure people know you care. Her advice is to jump in and help out, keep smiling, and above all keep laughing!"
SHPS can't thank you enough, Margaret, for all that you do to support the district and our students. You're much appreciated!
